Success & Failures – Episode 16

The Entrepreneurial Dash Ep16: Success & Failures

The word success is used a lot. If you had a look at the dictionary you will see it is defined as the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. That is the general definition. If you travel a bit further down the page you will find that success is also defined as a favorable or desired outcome.

When you break it down further still, it is defined as a positive outcome. So you see, when we use the word success we are speaking in terms of a positive outcome. A positive outcome is something we all strive for in business and in life. We aim to achieve success and we want to be successful.

We all want to be successful. But why do we want to be successful? Let’s take a look at the word fail. If we take a look at the definition of fail we find that it means to not succeed. If we break it down further we find that the definition of failure is to be unsuccessful.

When we look at the word fail we see that when we fail we are exposing ourselves to a negative outcome. A negative outcome is something we all strive to avoid. So when we look at success and failure we can see that in order to be successful we must avoid failure.

They are part of the life of a human. No one goes through life without experiencing at least one failure and one success. I’m not talking about the failures and successes we encounter in life, but rather the ones that we encounter in our work and careers. These are the ones that we learn the most from because they teach us how to look at things in a different way, and perhaps, how to approach them in a different way.

It’s easy to think that you’re the only one and that you’re alone in your misery and failure. But you’re not. The more you realize this, the better your life will be. You can’t be successful without feeling a failure. You can’t fail without feeling success. You can’t feel happy without feeling sad. You can’t feel sad without feeling happy.

You can’t be anything without experiencing it. Life is like a roller coaster. If you don’t like it, get off and try again. Every time you do that, you’ll get better at it, and you’ll get closer and closer to the things and people and experiences and emotions and lifestyles that make you happy.

The more you accomplish the more you are tested, the more you are tested the more you are pushed to succeed. You can look at failure as a way to succeed or you can look at success as a way to fail. I don’t know about you but I prefer to succeed.

Also, Listen:

In the achievement of a specific goal or dream, some people find fulfillment with their accomplishments while others find a specific mission in life that they aspire to fulfill with the ultimate end goal in mind. In this episode, Shailesh Dash explores how different people from different cultures and with individual families make sense of success and failure in their own lives, and how they can become an inspiration for all.

Shailesh says “We all know that success, failure, pain, etc are things that exist in our own minds. These feelings are created by us. But the only way our brains are adapted to recognize these feelings is by taking influences from outside sources. We assume outside definitions of success or failure because of this”.
